You should look into San Diego Golf Academy. They have locations all around the US and specialize in instruction to further a golf career. Check out this website, I am sure the site will be able to answer you questions.

There are a couple of misconceptions in your question. One just has to be a terrific golfer who gains tournament experience by playing. Today ,a lady to get on the LPGA, has to go through qualifying school to gain her right. It isn't necessary to be a college graduate. Several players now on tour have no degree, nor did several of the original LPGA members. No player is paid a salary per se. They may have a sponsor or earn money for playing a brand club or ball and wearing some clothing manufacturer's gaments. Their earnings have to pay for their transportation, caddies, living expenses, and incidentals all of which are the result of the places where they finish in each tournament. If they do not make the cut they earn little to nothing.

Being a "Golf Professional" isn't necessarily the same as being a "Professional Golfer". Golf Pros generally work within the golf industry as instructors, Golf Course Managers/Director's of Golf etc. Professional Golfers play the game to make a living. To become a Golf Pro you need at the least to have a diploma in golf management from a community college. These courses teach everything from course maintenance to club repairs to running local tournaments to managing a golf course. To be a Professional Golfer you need the skill to play the game at it's highest level.

Do something, anything to make enough to live on while you pursue your dream. Getting on with a pro-style golf course with good resident Pros and maybe that hosts an LPGA tournament is a good place to be I would think.

Meanwhile - while you're paying the bills - golf every chance you have - and learn some pro courses. Look if you can be a "par" golfer on even one course you might make some noise during an amateur tourney and hey, maybe get invited to the big dance?

There's a whole grading system in place as well - determined on success and scores... so you might have to look that up.

You need a doctorate in psychology. But, to become board certified, you need to have at least an advanced practicum at a neuropsychology assessment site (during your grad program you'll do 3 practicums and an internship). Your internship should preferably be at a Neuropsych site as well. After that, you need a two year fellowship in neuropsychology as well. So technically, you need your bachelors plus about 5 years for a doctoral program and then 2 years of fellowship. You NEED to have a doctorate in clinical psychology. Not a Master's as stated in other answers!

Your educational IRA money has to come out by age 30 but the 529 plan has no age limit. Also, the educational IRA can be spent on any education ( high school, grade school, etc.) but the 529 plan can only be spend on college. Therefore, if it looks like you have over-funded:

1. Use the educational IRA on high school and grade school expenses.
2. Spend the educational IRA first.
3. If there is any thing left in the 529 plan when your son finishes college, leave it in there. If you end up needing it for your retirement, spend it last. You will pay income tax and a 10% penalty on any earnings in the account that are withdrawn for non-educational purposes at that time. If you don't need it for your retirement, make your son the successor owner and keep it available for a grandchild or other relative.
